ROGERS BREAKDOWN SUMMER SHOWCASE
Today I watched the three finals in the Rogers Breakdown Summer Showcase. All three were nail biters as fans got their moneys worth.

In the finals of the Blue Division it was Alexandria hanging on to beat host Rogers 42-40. Angela Christenson scored 23 points. Alex got off to an 8-0 lead and led 21-10 at half time. Rogers trailed by 10 with six minutes to go before scoring six of their last seven possessions. They never got closer than two however as Christenson was there to make clutch shots and free throws.

Becker won the championship in the Gold Division with a 41-38 comeback win over Maple Grove. Becker led early 12-6 before MG grabbed a 23-19 halftime lead. MG led 34-30 with 7 minutes left. Becker outscored MG 11-4 the rest of the way to claim the victory. Becker's Jessie Althoff scored six of the last 11 points. Becker took the lead for good on a Rey Robinson free throw with 2:19 left 37-36. MG had three chances to tie the game in the last seconds, but each time the trey attempt bounced out.

The last championship was the Silver Division and Morris beat Simley 40-36. There were six ties in the first half including the half time score 22 apiece. That also was a theme of the second half with four more ties, the last coming at 34 all. Morris scored on a Megan Diercks basket and then held Simley scoreless for two possessions. Heather Gagner and Diercks added two free throws each for the final margin.

There will be full out & abouts on these games starting Monday.
