COACHING NEWS
SDSU lost their 2nd year assistant coach this year as Travis Brewster is headed to the University of North Dakota.

Matt Sobiech is the new head girls basketball coach at Mound-Westonka. He has been the assistant there the past 3-4 years. Before that he was a student teacher and assistant coach at North Branch.

Jon LaBeau has resigned as girls basketball coach at St. Mary Catholic Central in Monroe, MI. The Kestrels have a 50 game winning streak in the Huron League. From the Monroe News.

Diane Robertson has resigned as girls basketball coach at Edwardsburg, MI. Robertson coached for two seasons. From the Niles Daily Star.

Corey Baumgartner has resigned as girls basketball coach at Kewaunee, WI. Baumgartner is moving on to Kaukauna to be an assistant principal. From the Green Bay Press Gazette.

SIGNING
Northern Colorado has signed Brittany Fernandez of Butler County CC. The 6-0 center played her high school ball at Kansas City Washington.

SHRINKAGE?
Could Minnesota drop a class in basketball? It seems three is the favored number except for football. This tidbit found in the golf article in the StarTribune. Look at the last paragraph on the first page.
I would be in favor of this move.

FINAL FOUR
Columbus has put in a bid for the women's basketball final four for the 2012-2016 years.

ATHLETES ON ATHLETES

SUMMER LEAGUE
Cedar Rapids Washington is in two summer leagues in Cedar Rapids--the Jefferson (Monday)and Kennedy (Wednesday) leagues.

ALL STAR GAMES
The South Dakota vs Wyoming All Star games take place this weekend with the first game today in Gillette, WY today at 5:30 pm and then Spearfish, SD tomorrow at 5:30. rosters included. From the Rapid City Journal.

BASKETBALL ON THE DIAMOND
New Life's infield is full of basketball players. Kristin Stein, Olivia Mann, Rebekah Schmidt and Jenny Ramey all are basketball players including pitcher Danielle Schmidt. The Eagles won their Class A quarterfinal game 2-0 over Chatfield. From the Rochester Post Bulletin.

BASKETBALL ON THE LINKS
Michelle Tobin, Eden Prairie Junior and a member of the Minnesota Fury AAU team, recently participated in the State Class AAA Girls' High School Golf Tournament and helped her team to a third-place finish
