Lady Cats Win Summer Kickoff, McKeown to NW

NEWTON KANSAS SUMMER KICKOFF RESULTS
The MN Stars Jihad Lady Cats 15U took on Oklahoma Spirit in the semifinals and won 62-50. Tyisha Smith put up 22 points. MSJ won the championship over Missouri Valley Eclipse 45-40 as the Cats team defense proved to be to much for MVE. Kaylani Edwards did a really nice posting up with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
In the 13U division MN Stars Martin lost to Kansas City Metro Stars in the semifinals on a put back with three seconds left inregulation 42-40 However MSM did regroup to beat Kansas Team And 1 by thirteen to pick up the third place title.

COACHING NEWS
Joe McKeown is the new Northwestern coach. McKeown was the coach at George Washington. No word on if Kiara Allums of Centennial, who signed with GW, will change her plans. From the Chicago Sun Times.

Former Fargo North girls basketball coach Terry Porter is fighting leukemia. From the Mike McFeely column in the Fargo Forum.

ALL STAR RESULTS
The Reds beat the Blues 68-44 in the Columbus Nebraska Telegram/Central Community College All-Star Basketball Game. Ashley Wurdeman of Lakeview had 17 to lead the Reds. From the Columbus Telegram. There is also a 2:52 video.

RETURNING HOME
