This game took place on Saturday, June 16
AAU Summer Jam Tournament
Bloomington Kennedy HS
16 Pool Play
PRAIRIE BISON HOOPSTERS 72, 'STANGS 69

Unfortunately, I was stuck at the construction traffic jam on 94 eastbound for over 30 minutes and that delay caused me to miss the early portion of this game. The numbers and stats will be off slightly therefore.

This was the tightest of the four pool games I saw on Saturday. It featured the Prairie Bison Hoopsters from various spots in North Dakota and the 'Stangs, basically from Sioux Falls Roosevelt, who have been to a few Minnesota AAU tournaments already this spring. I wanted to see teams I haven't seen yet this year and PBH fit the bill.

When I arrived the score apparently was 15-9 for PBH. I am guessing I missed something like 14 possessions in the first half. The game was nip & tuck in the first half with battling back from an early deficit. At half it was 34-31 PBH.

The 'Stangs battled back and took a slight lead at 37-36. The game see sawed back & forth with 7 lead changes in a three minute period. Erin Ericson scored on a pull up jumper to keep the lead in PBH's hands for good at 45-44. PBH pushed that lead out to 8 at 58-50. The Stangs closed to 2 twice late in the game, the last time coming at 71-69 with under a minute to go on the front end of a free throw by Emily Palmer. She missed the second and Sammi Schmit picked up the rebound. Morgan Bindas was fouled and she delivered an insurance free throw. On the second shot that missed Schmitt rebounded and was fouled. She missed both giving the Stangs hope. The clock wound down to 10.9 when the Stangs called time out to set up the final shot. Shaunteva Ashley attempted a 3 which fell short. Morgan Bindas picked up the board and was fouled. She failed to connect, but time didn't permit the Stangs from getting another decent crack at the tie.
