this game took place on Saturday, June 16
Summer Jam AAU Tournament
Bloomington Kennedy HS
16u pool play
IBCA SELECT II 64, MN STARS ANTL 55

Again the theme of the day was to see teams I haven't seen yet and IBCA Select II was on my to do list. So the last two games had an IBCA feel to it. IBCA broke the game open late in the first half with a 14-6 run to close out the half. IBCA maintained that margin throughout most of the second half to advance.

To start the game MSA had an early 9-4 lead with five straight scoring possessions, however MSA only got 8 points out of those possessions going 1/2 at the line on two possessions. IBCA took their first lead on a three by Jenny Dorman. MSA tied it at 18 on a basket by Sam Mehr. IBCA then ran off six straight scoring possessions and finished the half 7/8 to go up 32-24. Kristin Nelson had 12 points at half for IBCA with a pair of &1s and a couple of put backs.

IBCA continued to build their lead in the second half with one offensive sequence of four straight scores to go up 45-29 after another Dorman 3. IBCA then went into a five possession slumber and MSA took advantage of that with a 9-0 run to close to 45-38 with 9:40 left. IBCA took a time out and then had their turn with six straight points to go up 51-38. IBCA continued to maintain the lead out to 60-49 with 1:26 left. MSA put on a furious rally with a full court press and managed to cut the lead down to 60-55 with 27 seconds left. Jenny Ramey had two steals on the press for MSA. Lana Otting managed to hold on to the ball for IBCA and was fouled. She delivered both free throw tosses and did so on the next possession for the final margin.
