MINNESOTA lynx 83, LOS ANGELES sparks 58

The Lynx stifled LA last night 83-58. LA has been in turmoil since Chamique Holdsclaw retired. The bad news last night: Seimone Augustus did not have her typical performance. Good news: the rest of the Lynx stepped up.

FINISHES: MN dominated this department with 11/20 in the last five possessions of each quarter. Well maybe "dominated" is misleading. LA 2as 10/20 after all. What the difference was MN delivered 26 points to the 17 for LA thanks to the 3 ball.

RUNS/DROUGHTS: Minnesota had three sequences where they strung five possessions together. LA had zero. All the MN runs had some second half connections. It started with a 12-7 run between the end of the 2nd and start of the third. The next run came in the middle of the third quarter with a 12-5 burst for MN. In the fourth quarter it was 12-2 on another 5 possessions. Add them all together and MN won that race 36-14. LA did not have any five possessions runs.
Strangely enough LA didn't have any prolonged droughts, but MN did have one 7 possession drought in the fourth quarter. LA didn't take advantage of that opportunity with only a meager 3-0 run.

LAY UPS: MN took this title as well 10-7. The Lynx have tightened up their defense lately, limiting their opponents lay ups. Their aggressive attitude has carried over to offense too with free throws 21 attempts to 14 for LA.
