16u Semifinals
TEAM WISCONSIN SELECT 17S 66,
CORNHUSKER SHOOTING STARS 54

In a back and forth game it was Team Wisconsin Select prevailing over the Cornhusker Shooting Stars 66-54. It started off rather slowly with TWS17 leading 4-0. CSS started off the game in a four possession drought. Val Schuster led TWS17 early with 8 straight points early as they built up a 10-7 lead. She did it on posts and at the line. Marissa Kastanek almost matched Schuster with seven straight points for CSS as they took a 14-11 lead. The worm turned to TWS17's favor on an 11-3 run. Leading the charge for TWS17 was Kaylee Cardinal with five during the stretch. Fortune than switched sides again with CSS going on a 10-2 run, Katie Birkel had the hot hand with five in that stretch. At this point CSS led 27-24. TWS17 closed out the half with three straight scores including two 3 bombs for an 8-0 run and a 32-27 lead at the break.

The see saw nature of the game continued into the second half. A streak here, a run there, it seemed that whoever had the hot hand at the end would be the winner. CSS had the advantage early with a 4/5 offensive production with a 10-4 run to go up to 37-36. They started off with two 3 point plays, one conventional, one behind the arc. Then it was a 6 possession drought for CSS. TWS17 came back with a 11-4 run. At the tail end of that sequence Cassy Schemberger delivered four straight points. TWS17 led 47-41 with 8:40 left. CSS didn't have any more comebacks after that. CSS endured another five possession drought that didn't help their cause. TWS17 closed the game with a 19-10 advantage. Hannah Quilling really took over and had 11 of those points, but she also had command of the game. TWS17 moved on with a 66-54 win.
