METRO STARS KNOCKS OFF NORTH TARTAN 14S
The Metro Stars 14s beat the North Tartan 14s in the finals of the Summer Jam 15U bracket at Bloomington Kennedy. North Tartan 14s had not lost many (if any) games to Minnesota teams in the past few years. In three previous games this year NT won. Sunday the score was 52-42 Metro Stars. All Metro Stars players played well, but especially Brooke Brown (Chaska) with her drives to the basket and Hana Potter (Edina) with her strong rebounding and 6'-10' jump shots.
Here are the 16u results won by IBCA Select I; and the 19u results won by North Tartan Larson.
Also the 13 results won by Team Wisconsin 13 Select. In the 15 White division the Mpls Lady Cats were the champs.
Last weekend Pipestone won the Marshall Breakdown Showcase defeating host Marshall in the finals 35-32.
In the MYAS Summer Jam at Minnetonka it was MN Thunder A beating MN Thunder B 31-25 in the 17 division.
UPCOMING EVENTS
The Minnesota Star of the North state games will take place this weekend in Rochester.
Rogers is the site of the Summer Showcase sponsored by the breakdown.
The MYAS has a variety of sites this weekend. Benilde-St. Margaret's is the site of the 16/17 division.
The Adidas Midwest Classic is this weekend in Ames, IA starting on Friday.
MISS BASKETBALL DAKOTA SHOWCASE
The 7th Annual Mr. Basketball & Miss Basketball Dakota Showcase is slated for June 28-30, at Augustana College in Sioux Falls. The event will feature 32 boys and 32 girls summer club teams. More than 100 college coaches will be on hand to scout the very talented field.
The event includes girls teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, North and South Dakota. Minnesota teams competing in the tournament include North Tartan, MN Suns, MN Swish, Southern Minne Magic, ECI Minnesota Gold, Northern Lites and three Metro Stars teams.
Following pool play on Thursday and Friday, the eight number one seeds will be placed in an 8-team single elimination bracket on Saturday. The eight number two seeds will compete in an 8-team single elimination bracket, as will the three and four seeds. The finals are Saturday night.

Box scores and updated brackets are posted on the tournament website within minutes of the conclusion of each game. The stat leaders are posted each evening. Dubbed the Girl’s Basketball Recruit blog’s best tournament of the summer in 2006, the Dakota Showcase is organized by Doug Koster of Mr. Basketball, Inc., in Kearney, Neb. Koster hosts a dozen events a year with more than 800 youth and prep teams.
COACHES HONORED BY LYNX
The Lynx honored the girls basketball section coaches of the year who responded to their invitation. The coaches received a plaque. They were introduced at center court before the game to the crowd.
