FARVIEW 60, ALL IOWA ATTACK 54
Farview, a team based in Minnesota, defeated the hosts in a dramatic back and forth game 60-54. Leah Szabla broke a 54 all tie with two consecutive 3s, her 5th and 6th of the day, to provide the winning margin.
Neither team broke free early. Farview did have a 6/7 offensive sequence early in the half and that but them up 15-13 on a 13-8 run. Szabla had six point in the run. Late in the first half AIA did start pulling away from a 20 all tie with a 6-0 run. Farview had a seven possession drought at the time. Farview was able to close the gap to 28-26 with their own 6-2 run. Jenna Power nailed a three at the end of the half to give AIA a bump to 31-26.
AIA maintained their lead and pushed it out to 47-37 with over 8 minutes left in the game. The rest of the way Farview outscored AIA 23-7. Farview was on a tear. They came back with tighter defense, and more aggressive play. The were relentless on the offensive boards, and took advantage of seven AIA in the last 15 possessions. Farview took their first lead at 48-47. Farview's offensive sequence was 5/6 during the stretch with AIA stuck in a six possession drought. AIA did take a 50-48 lead on a 3 by Courtney Hemmen. Farview scored three straight times to go up 54-50. AIA came back to tie it up with two straight scores. After Peyton Mellman made two free throws. That is when Szabla launched her final two 3s for the Farview win.
