MINNEAPOLIS LADY CATS 64,
CORNHUSKER SHOOTING STARS 58

The Minneapolis Lady Cats won their second 14 tournament in as many weeks with another come from behind win over the taller Cornhusker Shooting Stars. MLC overcame Emily Cady's 26 points for CSS with balanced scoring and their trademark quickness, pressure and aggressive style.
Both teams scored on their first possessions and that set the tempo early. In fact the of the first seven possessions, six found the bottom of the net. The first team that broke free was CSS with a 10-2 run to go up 27-16. Taylor Moore had six points for CSS in the run. MLC had a six possession drought during the run. The Cats did manage to cut the margin to 31-27. Both teams struggled at the end of the first half with a combined nine possession drought. By half time Emily Cady had 14 for CSS, while Baker had 9 for MLC.
The key sequence came in the second half when MLC went on an 11-0 run to go up 45-37. CSS had a nine possession drought during the run, four of which were turnovers. MLC did stretch it out to a 10 point margin. CSS didn't quit. They came back with a 15-5 run to tie it at 54. On one possession MLC led 54-47 when Cady was fouled after a post up basket. She missed the free throw, but Kyley Simmons picked up the rebound for CSS. Moore later in the same possession drilled a three for a five point CSS possession. On the next CSS possession Simmons snatched an errant MLC pass and scored the lay up to tie it at 54. MLC withstood the fire and outscored CSS 11-4 in the last three minutes. Tyeshia Smith, who had foul issues, dropped five free throws down the stretch.
