MINNEAPOLIS LADY CATS 64,
ALL IOWA ATTACK 14U 42

The Minneapolis Lady Cats continued their stellar spring/summer with a 64-42 win over the hosts All Iowa Attack 14s. Normally MLC is a 13u team. For this tournament the Cats added Tyeshia Smith and Tacita Gonzalez to the roster, two jolts of energy at the point. Despite being outsized MLC was relentless with their full court pressure and reaped the benefits with the turnovers. Two Cats had nine defensive wraps (Smith and Aubrey Davis) as they piled up 33 total wraps. The furious nature of the MLC defense allowed only six two point field goals, and one of those was a second chancer.

In the first half the game was tight until Tyeshia Smith dropped two consecutive 3 bombs and then Aubrey Davis converted a conventional 3 point play to put MLC up 19-11. Then MLC went into a 10 possession offensive hibernation. AIA took the lead with a 12-0 run and led 25-21. AIA led at half 29-26.

Tyeshia Smith tied it up with an "&1" on the second MLC possession of the second half. That kicked off a 12-1 run by MLC as they raced to a 38-30 lead. AIA started the half with a six possession drought. AIA managed to cut the margin down to 40-36, but MLC soon connected on 6/7 possessions and when the dust settled led 53-38. Their really was no drama the rest of the way. AIA did close with a 7 possession drought as MLC didn't give an inch.
