MYAS Tournament, Rogers
17/19 semifinals
NORTHERN LIGHTS 41, NORTH TARTAN EBNER 15
With the AAU tournament scene quiet this weekend the only action was at Rogers with the MYAS. They had a six team tournament, two pools of three. Northern Lights were the top seed in the B pool and they squared off against North Tartan Ebner. NL had multiple schools forming their roster, NTE was all Tartan except for one player. MYAS uses 7 minute quarters stop time.
NTE struck first on a basket by Nicole Huset. That was the last lead. Northern Lights had five straight non scoring possessions to kick off the game, but got their game ramped up in a hurry after that. NL scored on six straight possessions and sat on top 12-2. Six different NLers found the bottom the net. NTE had a nine possession drought during the same time. At the end of one it was NL 14-4.
NTE had another 10 possession drought in the second quarter. Alena Axelrod provided some hope with two consecutive 3s to cut the score to 18-12. The margin remained six at half for NL 20-14.
NTE was shut out in the third quarter and any hope of getting back into the game evaporated. NTE was held scoreless for 13 possessions, 14 going back to the second quarter. NL were hot going 8/9 with the last five in a row as they built up a 37-14 lead. Katelyn Thompson had 7 and Amber Dvorak had 6 in the 17-0 run.
The fourth quarter was running time and there was no real mystery. NTE only scored one point in the second half. They did score on the first possession of the 4th, but then didn't score the last 7 possessions.

NORTHERN LIGHTS
STARTERS
Katelyn Thompson, East Central 9, 9, 100.0, .444 guard has 3 range. RF: vision on dribble needs to be under net.
Emma Grover, Wrenshall 2, 7, 28.6, .143 guard. RF: needs to put the ball under her chin.
Trisha Frye, Cotton 2, 6, 33.3, .167 RF: ball handling
Amber Dvorak, Hinckley-Finlayson 10, 6, 166.7, .667 6-7 post changes the game. has decent hands. moves well. big target. players don't want to challenge her shot blocking ability. should only get better. RF: defensively needs to keep low, and not buy fakes. needs to get wider base and elbows out after defensive rebound. more seasoning and playing at a quicker level will help.
Shelby Slygh, Mesabi Range CC (Cotton) 2, 4, 50.0, .000* handled point. very active defensively. had five assists. The reason she has a .000 floor % is that she was fouled on an 1, but she missed. NL got the rebound and someone else ended the possession therefore she scores, but is not credited with a possession.
