LAKEVILLE NORTH SUMMER LEAGUE
It was an Eastview kind of day in the Lakeville North Girls basketball summer league tonight. They opened the evening with a 33-29 win over the hosts in a once and future rivalry. These two teams are now in the same AAAA section just as in the days of Podominick and Broback.
Eastview then topped perennial power Hopkins 35-28 in another intense contest.
A couple of words on the LNSL. #1. 20 minute running time halves. #2. two refs, last week at the Champlin Park SL they had one official.
EASTVIEW 33, LAKEVILLE NORTH 29
I got to this contest a bit late. No matter how you cut it going from the north metro to the south metro during rush hour (the game started at 5 pm) is not smooth by any stretch. We only missed the first basket which Eastview scored 2-0. The early part of the game the offenses were not in sync. Eastview had a nine possession drought. Later they had a five possession drought in the first half. LN did come back from a 4-0 deficit to lead at half 12-10.
In the second half Eastview struck with lightning behind the arc. They connected on five 3s and that help propel Eastview to the win. Four different players cashed in from behind the arc. Eastview took the lead at 19-18 on a steal and lay up by McSperron. She delivered a 3 on the next Eastview possession providing a four point cushion. Eastview last three scoring possessions were all from beyond the arc. With 1:21 Eastview went into their delay game and milked the clock down to almost nothing.

EASTVIEW 35, HOPKINS 28
This game was scheduled to start at 7 pm. We made a run for some fast food, but apparently we were not fast enough. We got into the game with Hopkins up 3-2. Hopkins led early 7-2. Hopkins' offense started to sputter after that. They had a five possession drought, and later closed with a six possession dry spell. Eastview took advantage of those dry spells to go up 18-12 at half.
Eastview led 21-14 and then Hopkins went on a 10-3 run to tie it up at 24. Eastview's Laura Siebenaller knocked down a trey. The Lightning didn't trail after that. Hopkins did stay tight with a 29-28 deficit, but McSperron iced the game with four free throws late in the game.
