Skyview AAU Tournament

At Skyview it was all Stars---The Stars won the Varsity division with four Stars teams making up the final four. Team Hested beat team Borowicz in the finals 66-48. The tournament changed the Sunday format. The top teams in each Saturday pool made it to the final four. Hested beat Stars Antl in the semis 64-36 while Borowicz beat Stars Smith 35-26. The Stars also won the 15 tournament.

I also saw the 9th place finish with Swish beating Summit Blue 49-42.

Earlier I caught the tail end of the Total Package win over the Gym Rats 49-38. Porsha Zimmerman went down with a knee injury late in the with about 7 minutes left and the Gym Rats had to play the rest of the contest with only four players. TP beat the Rats 49-38 to move on to the 5th place game. East Metro beat Total Package in the the consolation final 68-62.

After the Varsity division we watched a few more: The 'Stangs, a Sioux Falls Roosevelt coached by Lillie (Brown) Arndt beat River City 47-38 in the 16II semis. Lillie Brown went to St. Paul Harding and played on an AAU team I put together back in the early 1990's. She also had a successful career at SW MN State. The 'Stangs played the LA Heat, a team from Detroit Lakes.

After that we watched the 15 pool play. Lakeville North beat Fury 51-35. There was just one pool of four. The Stars won the tournament by going 3-0. They beat Lakeville North on Saturday 48-46. LN had a couple of players foul out and had to use four at the end.

at Kennedy today it was Mpls Lady Cats over Midtown Lady Monarchs 40-32 for the title in the qualifier. MLC will be the #1 seed in the upcoming tournament. MLM #2.
