MICHIGAN OPENS HIGH SCHOOL PRACTICE
Michigan opened their first winter season practice for girls basketball yesterday. Previously Michigan ran their girls basketball season in the fall.

The Detroit News features opening day practice for Grosse Pointe North and Detroit Community. Oddly enough Michigan's first high school games don't take place until Nov. 26. Minnesota starts practice a week later and has games earlier.

The Port Huron Times looks at the changes and challenges to area schools including scheduling gym space.

The Holland Sentinel looks at the opening day activities and the eagerness of the players to get going. Their last games took place, at the latest, in December 2006.
