WEST BRACKET 3RD PLACE
ROSEMOUNT irish 52, TOTINO-GRACE eagles 47

Rosemount, with some new faces with familiar names, and with another 6-2 post, surprised Totino-Grace in the 3rd place game in the west bracket 52-47. Neither team was sharp offensively, but Rosemount built a lead and withstood TG's comeback to walk off with the hardware.

Neither team scored after 8 combined possessions, a theme that would occur frequently in this contest. TG's game plan took a hit when Lizzi Naumann picked up her second personal within seconds of each other at the 15:57 mark of the first half. Naumann fouled Michelle Hugelen, who scored the "&1" for Rosemount to break the scoring drought. Rosemount never trailed. TG had a fatal 10 possession drought in which Rosemount went from a 10-9 lead to 22-9. That was the hole they had to climb out of for the rest of the game. Rosemount's biggest lead came at 24-10. Abbie Bauernfeind had the hot hand in the first half with three 3s and a total of 13 points. Another big impact player was 6-2 Laurie Tyson off the bench. She came in and had five d boards and three blocks in the first half to go along with 7 first half points. At the half the Irish led 32-20.

TG started their slow climb back with a six points in three possessions early in the half. That made it 34-26 with 14.48 left. A 1/8 string after that hampered comeback moves. Five of those seven non scoring possessions ended up as turnovers. Rosemount also was stymied on offense with a 1/10 sequence at the same time. Six of those were turnovers, three of which were offensive fouls. Rosemount tacked on another six non scores after that. TG exceeded them by three. Then a transformation. Rosemount rattled off five straight as Megan Eul put the Irish on her back. Eul had 15 points in the second half. TG closed the gap to 40-35 with 7 minutes left after a three by Jessie Meyer. Eul responded with 7 points in the next three Rosemount possessions. Again Meyer sliced the Rosemount lead to 49-45 with under three to go with another of her 3s. That was followed by a basket by Naumann an it was a two point game 49-47. Another Rosemount turnover gave the ball back to TG. They missed on their next two chances down court, and never again did score. Eul saved the day with a basket in the delay game with under a minute to go to give some cushion to the Irish.

A half tale: Rosemount was at a pp100 of 84.2 and a floor % of .395 in the first half. In the second the numbers dropped to 54.1 and .297. Take away Eul's production and the numbers plummet again to a bone chilling 17.9 and .143.
TG on the other hand is a different case. They hit for 54.1 and .297 in the first half and 71.1 and .289 in the second. If you notice they had a WORSE floor % in the second half but a 17 point IMPROVEMENT on their pp100. That is what the magic of the 3 will do.
