#6 AA Jordan won the rematch with MN River conference rival and #7AA Norwood-Young America. NYA has two losses on the year, both to Jordan. In the first match this year on Dec. 19 Jordan won 66-64. What made this different was NYA led by 12 in the second half.

Jordan took the tip and scored on Elizabeth O'Malley's shot, her only points of the night. NYA answered later with Becky Otto's coast to coast lay up and foul to lead 3-2. There were six lead changes in the first half with Jordan gaining the lead last on Jessica Schrupp's post up to make it 15-14. Jordan went into a five possession drought. NYA took advantage of that situation to go on a 6-0 run in three straight possessions. Jordan made a comeback to close to 21-20 on a top feed from Brittany Chambers into Leah Dietel. In the possession before that Jordan held the ball against the 3/2 zone for at least a minute. Chambers just stood at mid court bouncing the ball. NYA went up 25-21 on two free throws by Rachel Pexa. Then Jordan went into a 2:30 minute replay of Chambers bouncing. The strategy may have been to keep Jordan away from more fouls. NYA had 9 made free throws, while Jordan only made 3. Jordan's last shot missed and NYA was up by four at half.

Then it was a tale of two portions of the same half. NYA dominated the first half of the second half with an 8-0 run to go up 33-21. Pexa scored on a screen and roll and then cashed in on a put back to start things off. Mackenzie Wolter finished the run on a drive with 13:30 to go. Jordan was mired in an 11 possession drought. Half the time Jordan was turning it over, the other half was missed 3s. Chambers finally broke the ice in the second half with a three from the left side. That started a four possession scoring sequence with two more three point plays--old style from Ashley Franke and Leah Dietel. Leah Dietel had five of the 11 points. All were scored in the paint as Jordan slipped behind the zone. When their run was done it was 37-32 with 10:10 to go. NYA came back with a 5-0 run including their own old style three point play by Pexa to make it 42-32 with 9:21 to go. But that was to be Pexa's final point. Jordan continued their rally with another hot sequence of 5/6 possessions. All of those scores came from Chambers hand. She started with a trey from the top of the key area on the left side. Then another three from the right wing. Then a steal and lay up attempt that ended with a foul. She converted both free throws. She then was fouled on a defensive rebound and canned both shots in the one & one. Next was another 3 from the top of the key left side. All in all it was 13 points in four minutes of play. That closed the margin to 46-45 NYA. NYA then answered the Chambers 3 with a Wolter 3 from the left wing. For some reason the red hot Chambers did not take the shot. NYA got the rebound and Otto made the first of a one and one free throw. That made it 50-45 with 3:16 to go. That was to be NYA's last score in the second half. Jordan scored on a Chambers pass to Karie Moriarty who bot behind the zone defense and scored and was fouled. That foul ended the night for Jessica Schrupp. Moriarty did not convert the 3 point play and Otto rebounded for NYA. On that same possession Otto was wide open under the basket on blown coverage (for the second time in the last five possessions). However the chip shot was bogeyed (for the second time). Chambers got the board. This time Amanda Dietel had a crack to tie it and she missed her 3. Hanson rebounded and Wolter picked up an offensive foul on the drive to the glass. Franke drew the charge. With 1:57 to go again Amanda Dietel had the ball, but traveled before her drive to the basket. On the next NYA possession Wolter was stripped of the ball by Chambers. This time Amanda Dietel delivered the 3 from the top of the key left area. with 50 seconds left. Wolter missed on her drive and Leah Dietel grabbed the board with 32 seconds left. Jordan again worked it down and this time Chambers started to drive. She got into the lane and her last second shot was blocked by Pexa. It was off to overtime at 50 all.

NYA went up 53-50 on the strength of two free throws on the first two possessions of the half. Hanson nailed both on the second possession. Then it was Jordan's time to rally yet again. Again is started with Chambers penetrating and getting fouled on the drive. She made both tosses and NYA led 53-52. Lembcke traveled down at the left block with 2:26 left. On Jordan's next possession it was Amanda Dietel again hitting from the top of the key for a trey to make it 55-53. Wolter drove by everyone to tie it at 55. Both teams traded turnovers, but it Chambers snatched an errant Otto pass and accelerated for the lay up and the lead for good. NYA again was victimized with a poor pass at 53 seconds and Jordan milked the clock until Amanda Dietel converted two free throws to go up 59-55. Leah Dietel was fouled grabbing a missed NYA shot and made the first of two free throws to go up 60-55 with 21.6 seconds. Otto launched a prayer from the right side that found the bottom of the twine to cut the Jordan lead to 60-58. Leah Dietel again was fouled and made both for a 62-58 lead with 10.7 seconds left. But NYA didn't go quietly. Kayla Schrupp hit an off balance runner to still give NYA hope at 62-60 with 4.0 ticks left. Chambers got the inbounds pass and put both in for the final margin.

Another great crowd. I got to the game in the JV game and the stands were full except for the deep seats near the wall. I sat in the NYA student section and they were very spirited. The whole crowd came to the floor to greet their heroes before warm ups. And when the game got exciting (think the last five minutes of the second half, and all of the overtime).
NYA had things rolling their way when Chambers started her torture of the NYA faithful. In the first half NYA was at the line and kept Jordan off balance. Jordan limited their fouling in the second half. NYA was hurt by 1. not being aware of what was happening on the back side of the zone (3 old style 3 point play potentials in the second half). They were also hurt by not converting the chip shot opportunities. Jordan made 7 3s in one form or another in the second half.
When Jordan started moving the ball around the perimeter the defense broke down. In the first portion of the second half they were content to pass from the right wing down to the right corner and back to the right wing and back to the.. you get the idea.
Jordan got key stops, but at times they lost track of their player, didn't block out, and were too high and that made Wolter and other put the ball on the floor for drive bys.
