1A West Semifinal
NEW LIFE eagles 73,
BETHLEHEM ACADEMY cardinals 64
After both teams scored on their initial possessions, Bethlehem Academy went into a 19 possession drought. New Life took advantage of that slumber to go on a 13-0 run and led 15-2 before BA scored again, 10 minutes later. Nine of those possessions resulted in turnovers. Also BA was shooting behind the NBA 3 point line. I don't know if the knew the right markings, but they were able to connect on some of those shots later in the night. In fact they scored on six straight possessions and 9/11 to go on a 19-10 run and cut the NL lead to 27-23 with 2:20 to go. Hope McBain struck for 7 points in a row on three possessions for BA, her last poinst a 3. That started a three possession run of 3s with Brittany DeGrood nailing two deep 3s. She added one more to close the run to make it 27-23. That was as close as it was going to get as NL rattled off a 12-2 run to end the half. Jenny Ramey had 5 points in the outburst for NL. NL led at half 39-25.
BA was able to get as close as 8 points a couple of times, but the early hole they dug was too deep to climb out. NL had a four point play after a technical was called on Hope McBain of BA. BA had the ball and McBain was fouled. She retaliated. NL added four points to push the lead to 53-38. Jenna Sheridan for BA had 12 points in the half after being shut out in the first. Free throws ruled in this half with NL cashing in 19 times this half.
