BARNUM bombers 68,
MOOSE LAKE-WILLOW RIVER rebels 55
Barnum dominated the first half inside and outside and cruised to a Polar league win. Barnum #4 in class A is now 24-1; and MLWR is 13-12.
Barnum was on fire the first half, but they didn't start out that way. They missed their first three possessions, but once they got the olive out of the bottle they ripped. Barnum was 5/6 scoring sequence for an 11-2 run. Megan Myhre had five in that sequence. Barnum missed their next two possessions, but then had a 9/10 scoring sequence and for all intents and purposes, the game was over. At that state Barnum led 32-10. Colleen McKay had 13 points in the 21-6 run. Barnum hit for three 3s in the sequence with McKay also showing her range from the top of the key. Barnum pushed the lead up to 27 points a couple of times in the first half. For the half Barnum stroked eight 3s, McKay had 17 points, and 10.5 defensive wraps in a tour deforce. Megan Myhre lit it up for 14 at half and Jessica Benson had all 8 of her points.
The fire didn't last in the second half and Barnum came back down to earth especially with the 3 ball as they only added two more. What still was effective was the feed the post game. McKay scored 16 straight points for Barnum over 9 minutes. Barnum's biggest lead in the second half reached 24 points at 65-41 with 3:40 to go. But with the big lead came subs and MLWR took advantage of that situation. Going back to the 5 minute mark MLWR had their own hot streak with 7/8 scoring sequence and 19-7 run. On their 25th possession of the half they scored on a steal and lay up by Destany Nummela. She was fouled and missed the free throw, but Karley Rentz was their for the board and was fouled. She made the first missed the second, but Allie Adamczak was their for the board. Rentz got the ball back and was fouled yet again. This time she drained both tosses for a total of points in one possession. But the game was over before that point. MLWR added a shot from the corner by Rachel Mach to end the scoring.

Barnum had the best post offense I have seen this season. period. The perimeter players looked in and reversed the ball around. They didn't really force things and McKay did a great job sealing and using her left hand. And the perimeter got her the ball in prime time scoring position. When McKay did get it and was surrounded she kicked it out to the waiting perimeters toeing the line. With 10 3s, 8 in the first half Barnum was in total rhythm.
Looking at the score you might think it was pretty close. It wasn't. Barnum's pp100 and floor % in the first half was 141.9 and .548. Those are eyepopping numbers. With 5 minutes left Barnum led by 25. The bench is almost non existent for Barnum. They are hurt by having their starting point guard Katrina Newman, a 5-9 2010 out with an acl.
By the way Barnum has the top pp100 this year at 119.3. The previous record holder was Benilde-St. Margaret's at 114.5 vs Burnsville. But their floor % put them in 8th. If you take away the last five non scoring possessions for Barnum, they would check in at .558, which would be good for second.
For the record Adrian is the top at pp100 with last year's game with SW Star checking in at 129.7. Also last year had four teams above 120. Adrian also had the top floor % at .649.
