LITCHFIELD dragons 60,
GLENCOE-SILVER LAKE panthers 49
In a Wright County Conference match up it was Litchfield beating conference leader Glencoe-Silver Lake 60-49. Early in the season GSL beat Litchfield 38-32. With the win Litchfield is now 8-6 in the conference which puts them in 5th place. GSL is now 9-3 in the Wright County. Overall GSL is 13-8, while Litchfield is 14-8.
Litchfield scored right off the bat on a lay up off the tip by Emily Davis. They did trail once in the game at 6-4 after a Hali Haukos score on an out of bounds play, but that was the end of GSL's leads. On the next Litchfield possession Brittany Euerle scored and that started a 5/6 possession string with Davis notching four and Anna Brusewitz matching her on a 10-4 run. Four of those scores were the result of assists as Litchfield ran their offense and looked to go inside. On the other score Davis scored at the line. Litchfield had another spurt with a 6/7 scoring sequence on a 13-4 run. Jamie Wollin had 6 in this run. The assist factor was working its magic for Litchfield with four more. On the other two Wollin had a steal and unassisted lay up, while Brusewitz scored on a put back. GSL was trying to create off the dribble. Of the 7 GSL scores 4 were assisted. Of the 14 Litchfield scores 11 had assists tied to them. At half it was 29-14.
Litchfield had more of the same in the second half. GSL did manage to get the score down to a 13 point margin 41-28 with 9:30 left. Litch then went on a 7-2 run for their high water mark of 48-30 with 8:00 left. A sense of urgency took over for GSL at this point. They scored 19 points in the last 6 minutes and closed with a 19-12 run. In fact in the last minute GSL scored 9 points with three consecutive 3s, the first two by Brittany Hallahan. If a team averaged 9 points a minute over 36 minutes they would have 324 points for the game. Even with all the offensive fireworks GSL only got within 8. Litchfield closed out with 6 straight scoring possessions with all of their points coming at the line. Davis cashed in for 7 points at the line in the last 1:08. Davis finished the night with 25 points.

Litchfield has good size on the perimeter with all five starters 5-10 or bigger. They ran their offense and looked for good shots. There may have been one possession where they didn't take the best shot available. Most of the shots also were in the paint as they ran their flex cuts against the man to good effect. GSL was either screened off or caught behind. With GSL their late game offensive execution was strong. Here is the how the game moved for them:
GSL 1st half +12 minutes: 30, 46, 65.2, .326
GSL last 6 minutes: 19, 12, 158.3, .667
GSL only made three 3s and they need to get to the line more often.
