#6 PEM upset #3 Chatfield last night and had #2 Caledonia on the ropes in the second half with a 48-39 lead before Caledonia rallied for the win.
Caledonia led throughout the first half. Their largest lead was 26-19 with 5:18 left. PEM finished with an 8-3 run. Caledonia sat on the ball the last 1:40 and did not get a great shot off so PEM was quite excited to be down only 29-27 at half. Megan Pick had 12 for PEM at half time, Megan King had 9 for Caledonia.

PEM scored their first five times they had the ball in the second half on an 13-3 run. On their 3rd possession Holly Grobe hit a 3, and was fouled on the block out after the shot, so PEM didn't lose possession. Lindsey Olson scored on the same possession for a five point addition and PEM led for the first time 35-32. PEM was able to stretch it to 9 a couple of times, the last coming at 48-39 on a Kelsey Herrmann shot from the right wing. PEM then had a 7 possession drought, four of which were turnovers off Caledonia pressure. Caledonia put together a 8/10 offensive string and regained the lead at 51-48, and stretched it out to 55-50 when all was said and done. Danielle Frank had 6 points in the 16-2 run. PEM wasn't done however and managed to tie the game at 56 with 5:26 left thanks to three scoring possessions in a row with free throws. Frank again broke the tie with a put back of her own miss. Then pesky Laquita Becker stole a ball in the back court and made the lay up. PEM cut that lead to 60-59 at 51.1 seconds left after Pick made a free throw, missed the second. They maintained possession with the ball going out of bounds. On the ensuing inbounds play Alise Holst scored to make it 60-59. Caledonia finished with three straight scoring possessions, all at the line. PEM had a turnover, and two missed shots for the final margin 65-59.

Also of note: Stewartville beat Rochester Lourdes in the 1AA Sub Section semifinal. It is the first time Lourdes will not be in the finals of Sub section since the start of the 4 class section in 1997.
