NEW PRAGUE trojans 57, PRIOR LAKE lakers 41

#4AAA New Prague won their 15th straight game and the Missota conference championship with a 57-41 over Prior Lake. NP is 12-1 in the Missota and 19-4 overall. Their last loss was to Northfield on January, 5. Prior Lake is 9-4 in the Missota, 13-12 overall.

The night started off with the game being moved to NP junior high. The new HS floor was ruined by a water damage from a sprinkler. Fortunately I made it to the new HS in time to get to the old HS, or new JH in time for tip off. New Prague jumps their 5-6 guard Becky Theisen and she won the tap. NP struck first with Brit Rynda making two free throws after getting an offensive rebound. Prior Lake was mired in an 8 possession drought to begin the game. NP never trailed in the contest. NP led 11-4 when PL went on a 8-2 run. Kylie Bunbury had four points in the spurt. NP had an 8 possession drought before running off a 5/6 offensive possession sequence. Stretching back to NP's last basket, Theisen scored 11 straight points. NP led at the half 25-17. Theisen had 14, Casey Christian had 7 for Prior Lake.

There really was no mystery in the second half. PL did manage to get the margin down to 27-21. NP had the best offensive sequence with a 5/6 possession run. NP did push the margin up to 47-30, their largest margin of the night. NP only scored from the line the last 6:30 of the game. They added 11 to their point totals. NP's Whitney Trecker delivered 13 points in the second half. Rachel Borka was hot for PL in the second half with 12 points.

New Prague has quickness, is physical and aggressive on defense. Like the White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen described the Twins, New Prague is like the "little pirahnas." They are rough and tumble, scrappy and tenacious. On offense they move the ball well and in half court situations take the best shots available. In both halves they had three possessions that lasted three lines in my notebook. If the ball was on the floor, so was NP. They dictated the pressure and pace of the game.
