Out & About: 43 Hoops Lady Elite/Bluejackets

Your Daily Dose of Girls Basketball News & Information

This game took place on June 11 at the Mpls Midtown Y Tournament
14/15 division
43 Lady Hoops Elite 52, Bluejackets 14

43 LHE established who was the boss on their first two possessions with lay ups and never looked back. The results were to be expected with a team made up of players from a wide ranging area, and six 6-0 footers taking on a school team with not much size. The game was never in doubt. At one point in the first half 43 LHE scored on 8 straight possessions on a 15-4 run to make it 25-7. The Bluejackets (from Cambridge-Isanti HS) suffered through droughts of five and eight in the half. 43 LHE led 31-10 at half.

Not much changed in the second half. There was running time to move the game along. The Bluejackets offense again suffered through a 10 possession drought to start the half and 43 LHE started with a 12-0 run. The fact was not much was gained by either team playing this contest. Maybe the Bluejackets gained more from going against bigger, quicker kids, but 43 LHE did not get the competition they needed to face the bigger fish they will face in the future.

I am not going to go through the analysis of this team execpt for a blanket statement.
They need to get stronger, take better care of the ball, and look to take better shots (in balance, in range, no hands in the way).

Carly Rothfuz

As you can see quite a mismatch. 43 HLE were definitely in the wrong brackets in this tournament. The whole 14/15 division was a disaster. Two teams failed to show so their were forfeits everywhere. Only three games were played in the entire bracket and the mismatches were clear. This was the first time, at least for me this spring/summer, that the tournament system broke down with teams out of division.

Next up: tomorrow morning with the general news of the day, followed by tomorrow night with another mismatch in the Mpls Midtown Y tournament--Southern Minne Magic vs Lady Komets. If you are wondering where the photos are...they are on the way. A reliable source is mailing me the games on disc. That is how I pull the photos. I will get the photos from this game up later when I get the disc.
