BY THE NUMBERS--defensive edition
Minnesota 74, 76, 97.4, .447
Seattle 66, 78, 84.6, .410
Minnesota's defensive numbers have improved. But the offensive numbers didn't keep pace. The defense posted it's third best day with a 97.4, and the floor % numbers actually is the second best performance. The perimeter defense was the sore spot today. If you compare the two starting units only Castro Marques, who had the miserable shared task of guard Augustus, had numbers in the stratosphere. Everyone else was .500 or less. Bird & Lennox, much less.

Jacobs and Augustus's D#s jumped. Jacobs was .250 vs Houston, Augustus .400. Their pp100 went from 62.5 to 120 for Jacobs, 73.3 to 130.8 for Augustus.

It appeared to me that Seattle had quicker feet, choppy feet, and active hands, and more intensity, especially on the perimeter. The 24 second clock ate into the MN offense due to the difficulty getting past the initial Seattle D.

The biggest droughts MN caused were a six possession drought in the second quarter, and 1/9 stretch in the same quarter. Unfortunately that air tight defense escaped at half time as Seattle scored 7 of their first nine possessions to start the third quarter.
