Your Daily Dose of Girls Basketball News & Information

A LOOK AT THE LYNX
Today we have the offensive numbers like we have seen before, but today we will also see the defensive numbers.
NUMBERS EXPLAINED

player, points, possessions, pp100, floor %
PLAYER EVALUATIONS
MINNESOTA
STARTERS
Amber Jacobs 16, 12, 133.3, .500
Simone Agustus 31, 27, 114.8, .556
Timika Williams 6, 8, 75.0, .375
Krista Mann 6, 8, 75.0, .375
Nicole Ohlde 13, 9, 144.4, .667
BENCH
Svetlana Abrosimova 10, 6, 166.7, .667
Adrian Williams 8, 5, 6, 160.0, 1.200 --if you notice her floor % was above 1.000, which means she scored a free throw, missed the second, the Lynx got the rebound and someone else was tagged for the possession.
Meghan Duffy 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Vanessa Hayden 0, 0, 0.0, .000
Shona Thorburn 0, 0, 0.0, .000

INDIANA
STARTERS
Tully Bevilaqua 11, 7, 157.1, .571
Anna DeForge 18, 15, 120.0, .533
Tamika Whitmore 26, 17, 152.9, .647
La'Tangela Atkinson 15, 10, 150.0, .800
Ebony Hoffman 12, 16, 75.0, .375
BENCH
Tan White 3, 6, 50.0, .333
Olympia Scott 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Linda Frohlich 2, 4, 50.0, .250
Charlotte Smith 0, 1, 0.0, .000

MN Bench scored 18 to Indiana's 5. Maybe the fact that Tamika Catchings was out with an injury had something to do with the lack of depth for Indiana. MN also had players nicked and dinged. Abrosimova, and Mann both had pads on their backs.
Here is the run down on the first five games
Top pp100
1. Simone Agustus 133.3
2. Svetlana Abrosimova 123.3
3. Adrian Williams 120.0
4. Krista Mann 116.7
5. Amber Jacobs 110.6
Top Floor %
1. Adrian Williams .743
2. Simone Agustus .598
3. Meghan Duffy .591
4. Nicole Ohlde .538
5. Svetlana Abrosimova .512

BY THE NUMBERS
Team, points, possessions, pp100, floor %
MN 92, 77, 119.5, .558
IND 87, 76, 114.5, .526
This was the second highest defensive total the Lynx have given up this year, but their offense was humming again giving them the win.

Now let us see if we can make heads or tails of the defensive situation last night. About the only way to do these stats justice is to be there to scribble down what happens. This is the initial numbers. I will be going through the Dean Oliver numbers in his book later.
You can see from the above totals that Indiana had a .526 floor % (MN's defensive team rating). What about individual break down.
Name, points given up, possessions, pp100, floor %
MINNESOTA
Amber Jacobs 17, 16, 106.3, .500
Simone Augustus 13, 12, 108.3, .500
Timika Williams 10, 7, 142.9, .714
Krista Mann 6, 7, 85.7, .429
Nicole Ohlde 16, 16, 100.0, .438
BENCH
Svetlana Abrosimova 7, 4, 175.0, .750
Adrian Williams 6, 7, 85.7, .429
Meghan Duffy 5, 3, 166.7, .667
Vanessa Hayden 2, 2, 100.0, .500
Shona Thorburn 5, 2, 250.0, 1.000
So we see that Jacobs had 17 scored on her, and Ohlde had 16. 14 of Ohlde's Dpoints came in the 4th quarter. The best pp100 belonged to Mann and Adrian Williams with 85.7. They also had the best floor %.
This is going to require some more study, this was only a preliminary account.
