COMPARING MN/WI AAU
Here are the numbers after watching the Memorial Day Classic in Menomonie last weekend featuring primarily Wisconsin teams. I will be looking at the pp100 and floor % numbers which are not affected by the differences in possessions. The Wisconsin tournament had running time which lowered the number of possessions by about 10.
NUMBERS EXPLAINED
State, pp100, floor %
MN16 76.2, .371
WI18/16 79.4, .379
Pretty close to the same, but WI did have better scoring and better floor %. If we eliminate the Team WI 17 vs TriState Storm game (extreme high and low) WI18/16 #s actually come out 77.7 and .363--still higher in pp100, but slightly lower in the floor %.
Three of the top six pp100s came in Menomonie last weekend including the first time I saw a team break 100 pp100. Also 2 of the top 4 floor % came in the Memorial Day classic again with Team WI 17 topping .500 which was a first.
On the flip side the lowest pp100 was also in the Menomonie tournament with TriState Storm coming in at 43.14, but the next WI team came in at 14th from the bottom. Again TriState Storm finished on the bottom of the floor % #s with .235. The next lowest was much closer this time with 5th place claimed by Team WI 17.
