ROGERS BREAKDOWN TOURNAMENT
Maroon Division
ESKO eskomos 58, NEW ULM CATHEDRAL greyhounds 30

In the third championship game that I charted today it was Esko that completed the convincing trifecta with a 58-30 victory over New Ulm Cathedral. For the third straight game the winning team had enough points to win the game by half time. This game also was a cross class game with the larger class prevailing (AA Esko, A New Ulm Cathedral). Esko's inside players Jamie Rust and Roz Chromy combined for 33 of the 58 Esko points (27 in the first half).

NUC led 11-6 when Esko took over completely. The Eskomos finished the half with a 16/17 run, a even 200 pp100 rate and a sizzling floor % of .941. Esko could do no wrong. They scored on transition, drives, but the main emphasis was inside. It was an RC (Rust and Chromy) world as they scored the last 15 points of the half. Esko enjoyed a 40-16 lead at the break.

There was no cooling off Esko at the halftime. Rust scored on the first Esko possession of the second half making it 11 straight scoring possessions and the 17th point from the RC connection. Esko wasn't a scorching in the second half only adding 18 to their total. After the first few minutes the the Esko bench had plenty clock. Esko didn't score on their last seven possessions. If you eliminate those empty trips Esko's pp100 for the game checked in at 156.8. If you also eliminate the slow start (compared to the rest of the game), Esko's pp100 rockets up to the stratosphere with a 173.3 pp100.

There were two other championships at Rogers during the same time these other championships. Barnum beat Minneapolis Southwest in the Silver division, and Big Lake beat Rockford 33-30 in the White Division. That was the only championship that was in doubt in the last minute.

NUC used their Bethany Summer League jerseys (I am guessing) with numbers taped on the back. Esko only had numbers on the back too. It makes it difficult, especially at the start of the game to get all the information lined up.
