In what turned out to be the most competitive game of the day CP and WC seesawed back and forth. Cotter led early at 4-0, but CP went on a 7-0 run to take the lead for good in the first half. CP had some mini droughts of four, but nothing to knock them off the leader perch. WC had a pair of five possession droughts spread at different times of the half. WC did close to 12-11 but that is when their first 5 possession dry spell struck. CP had a 10-3 run during a portion of that sequence to lead 22-14. WC came back to within 2 at 25-23. Then Ashlynn Fuller scored on a drive and two possessions later did the same and was fouled. She missed the free throw however and Ashley Witte was their for the CP rebound keeping the possession alive. Jenny Theisen finished it off with a basket for four points in one possession and the CP lead was back to 31-23. Winona Cotter took a instructional time out about the virtues of blocking out at that point. Later Theisen was fouled from behind the arc and was awarded 3 free throws of which two were converted for CP's biggest lead at the half 33-23. Devin Bowlin answered on the was back and was fouled with 1.3 ticks left when she went to the glass and scored. She made her toss to make it 33-26 at half.

When driving to the glass WC scored again. This time it was Jenny Gilbertson to open the half to make it 33-28. Bowlin hit two 3s to pull WC to 36-34. Gilbertson tied it at 36 with a basket off a Bowlin dish. After a Cotter turn over Fuller scored and was fouled. This time it was a three point play as she made the free throw. WC went on a 7-2 run capped by a Bowlin 3 from the left wing to make it 43-41 with about 12 minutes left. That is when CP went on an 8/9 scoring sequence and had a 18-2 scoring spree until Cotter scored again. CP's Ashlynn Fuller exploded for 11 points during the stretch. Two WC turnovers resulted in five points for Fuller. But mostly it was missed shots, primarily from the other Cotter players. Champlin's biggest lead was 59-45.
Cotter had some fight left in them and they closed to 68-62 on three consecutive scoring possessions. CP quickly scored six points in three possessions to push the lead back to 12 at 74-62.

Winona Cotter 68, 82, 82.9, .366

Without attacking the basket WC didn't get the CP players in foul trouble. WC struck gold behind the arc, but it was primarily a two person show. only four free throw made for the game. CP is better defensively this season, but more work is needed. They need to get to the Rogers/Hopkins level to make noise in March (floor % .224-.228).
