CONCORDIA BLOOMINGTON lancers 49,
CANNON VALLEY LUTHERAN titans 37

This was a 10 am game this morning in Bloomington featuring two class A private schools, one old school with a new name---Minneapolis Lutheran to Bloomington Lutheran to Concordia Bloomington, and a newer school Cannon Valley Lutheran. The big attraction-- a 6-3 freshman for CVL Megan Quiram.

Both teams had problems handling the ball early but CVL never got a shot off in their first three possessions and didn't score until their 15th. Quiram didn't get to smell the ball, much less touch it. 10 of those first 14 possessions ended up as turnovers. When they did get shots off it didn't come through Quiram. CB wasn't as dry, but they did have a drought of 7 early on. CB led by four early on a couple of times, but CVL battled back and led 15-14 on Kyeria Schmidtke's second free throw with 1:57 to go in the half. CVL didn't score the rest of the half and CB scored twice more including a steal and transition lay up by Madeline Ehrich at the buzzer to go up 18-15.

CB added two consecutive scoring possessions to start the second half to go up 21-15. CVL had another drought, this time 6 possessions. Then, for a brief spurt, both teams found their groove with seven scores in nine possessions. Not much changed as far as spread CB led 27-23. CVL scored on four consecutive possessions with Quiram scoring on a traditional post up, and rebound. CB had five consecutive scores in this stretch and pushed their lead up to 33-23. Weber and Ehrich each had four in the spurt. It never really got closer than that. In fact CB's widest margin was 14. CB took the game 49-37.

Big contrast from the contests yesterday. Both teams are not as polished with the ball, but CB does have better perimeter shooters, and ball handlers. It would be a good idea for CVL that on every half court possession if Quiram touched the ball. She doesn't necessarily have to shoot, but it should touch her once. Also the low post might be better suited for her.
