DICK'S SPORTING GOODS HOPKINS TOURNAMENT
3RD PLACE GAME
BENILDE-ST. MARGARET'S red knights 71,

BURNSVILLE blaze 65

Benilde started off the 3rd place game with a 7-0 lead as Burnsville was 0/6 in their opening possessions, only two of which were turnovers. Burnsville was only getting one shot, and that was usually after 3 passes. BSM did string together six straight and 9/10 scoring possessions to go up 26-16. Burnsville was 6/10 at the same time. Latoya Williams had 5 for BSM during the string with two baskets coming on put backs. BSM had 10 points tied to second chance points in the first half, Burnsville had no 2nd chance points, and led 39-30 at the break.

BSM pushed that lead up to 57-40 with under 8 minutes to go finishing up a 7 possession scoring string outscoring Burnsville 12-6. 7 of those points came at the line with Kachine Alexander delivering six. Burnsville wasn't finished at this point as they went on a 24-10 run to close to 67-64 with under a minute to go. Sarah Wiens knocked down a three from an out of bounds play to cut the margin. Wiens had 10 points in the run. During the run Brittany Mayclin of BSM was slapped with a technical when she tried to get open with a bit more force that the refs deemed necessary against Lauren Safranski. Abby Rittenhouse scored the free throws, but Burnsville didn't make further hay on it. Safranski did turn a missed shot, and a errant pass into four points on consecutive possessions via the transition route. BSM converted 4/6 free throws their last three possessions to close out the win.
