KATIE SMITH CHAMPION
Katie Smith and the Detroit Shock won the WNBA title on Saturday with a 80-75 win at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit over the defending champs from Sacramento. Smith got her WNBA start in Minnesota. Detroit trailed by 8 in the first half. Smith finished with 17. Story from the Detroit Free Press. The WNBA has expert analysis, boxes and videos. SCHEDULES UP FOR MN FALL LEAGUE
The MYAS has the schedules up for the fall league now. There will be games at Armstrong in the Blue division. White division games are headed to Forest Lake. Red games will be held at Bloomington Kennedy. There are nine different levels at the 12/11 grade level.

SHA'LA JACKSON VERBALS
Sha'la Jackson from Fort Wayne South Side made verbal to Illinois State. Last year the guard averaged 15.7 ppg. From the Ft Wayne News Sentinel.

QUISTORFF QUITS MORRIS
Brittany Quistorff, Osakis 2006, will not be attending UM Morris after all. The 5-9 guard is now enrolled at 2 year school MSCTC Fergus Falls. Her sister Jennifer goes to Fergus. The original coach that recruited Quistorff, Randi Peterson, left during the summer to take a similar position at Coe in Iowa.

The Detroit Free Press has a feature on the 11u Michigan Elite team that finished 13th in the nation. The team won the "Spirit of Detroit" award from the Detroit City Council. They finished the season 74-12.

MICHIGAN HS RESULTS
Lakeview won the Battle Creek City Championship with a convincing 60-30 win over Pennfield.

Bridgman beat Edwardsburg 51-42 on Thursday night. The Lady Eddies are now 1-2.

Oakland Christian beat Lenawee Christian in the Christian tournament 55-25 on Friday. Story is from the Adrian Daily Telegram.

Charlotte is featured in the Lansing State Journal.

DeWitt handed power Ionia and it's star Kellie Watson a loss in a 47-35 game on Tuesday. The DeWitt DeFense did their part holding Watson to 14.

Bath lost to Saranac 33-31 in the first game in the new Bath gym. Saranac scored at the buzzer on a rebound basket to spoil the party.
