your daily dose of girls basketball news & information

MN Fall League
White Division
Hopkins 50, Osseo White 42

Hopkins bounced back after a loss to Eden Prairie to stop Osseo 50-42. In the best of the three match ups I saw today. Hopkins established themselves early with the first 8 points of the game. Osseo was mired in a six possession drought. Osseo did cut the margin to 10-7 after a Sunnaborg basket. But the Orioles didn't have a way to stop Caitlin Rowland in first half as she scored 14 points to lead Hopkins to a 23-15 half time lead.

Hopkins built a 38-21 lead in the second half before Osseo whittled it down to the final margin of 8. Osseo struck for four 3s in their late comeback attempt. Osseo outscored Hopkins 21-12 during the last half of the second half. Jennifer Sunnarborg had 10 points in the second half for Osseo, 16 for the day.

This was the second game for both teams. Centennial Red beat Osseo 33-30 in their first contest. The Hopkins guards had the upper hand. They controlled the tempo and made good choices on offense. Osseo rushed more than needed. Hopkins looked more fluid.
Both Melissa Henderson and Jennifer Oligmueller missed the day for Osseo White. They were on a recruiting trip to Northern State in Aberdeen, SD--Henderson for VB, Oligmueller for BB.
Jackie Hiebert missed for Hopkins. She was in Chicago taking an ACT test.
