SUNDAY FALL LEAGUE ACTION
Today I was at two venues--Blaine in the morning with the Red Division and Armstrong in the afternoon with the Blue Division. All the games I saw today featured undefeated teams.

In the first game it was White beating Red in the battle of Centennial 54-42. It was a pretty quiet first half with White leading 15-12. Both teams were split with Emily Becken, Megan Waytashek and Kiara Allums on the Red team and Kayla Blom, Bridget Schuneman, and Megan Nipe on the White.

Game two was a physical confrontation between the Rascals, a team primarily made up of Mpls South players, and Maple Grove #1. The Rascals proved to be rascals as they held off MG1 45-37. The Rascals used their speed and quickness in the full court game to full advantage.

Then it was off to Armstrong to watch Hopkins vs Osseo White. As I was crossing Main Street going south on University just outside of Blaine HS, a car ran a red light and, thank goodness, I narrowly avoided a potentially serious car accident. I didn't realize red lights were optional or green lights were going to be so hazardous.

At Armstrong it was another tooth and nail fight with Hopkins and Osseo White. Hopkins was without the services of Stephanie Sension and Caitlin Rowland who were away on college visits. As it was OW led 16-12 at half time. Osseo maintained their lead in the second half until Hopkins strung together five straight scoring possessions to take the lead for good. The Royals had a 14-0 run as OW had a nine possession drought. Hanna Muegge had a 7 points in the run. Hopkins won this battle 40-32.

Earlier in the day Hopkins beat Northern Lights with Amber Dvorak.

I will have more on these games with the out & abouts starting Monday.
