AAU AGE RANGES
Here is the official AAU age divisions. The cut off date is now July 1 for birthdays. There is also an age calculator to determine ages on that site.

TOP OF THE LINE
The players that get a heavy dose of AAU ball are playing at the highest level in the off season. There are other options, but to be the best, you have to play against the best. Many players use the summer to improve their skills and to step up to the next mark. Too often players put limitations on themselves. They don't stretch, or push themselves to the brink. This is the crucible where players can be forged. The Theodore Roosevelt "Credit Belongs" quote applies here. I have seen players transformed in one summer.

You can look at the top tier high school programs in the state and the squads with more bodies playing at a high level AAU club are the ones still standing in March. It is a matter of playing the best to be the best.
