FALL LEAGUE
Today I traveled to three different sites. I stayed with the MYAS this week as they wrapped up some championship level games in the divisions. The Breakdown tipped off this weekend and I will be focused on that in the upcoming weeks.

Today's theme could be called Trey-riffic. Threes were falling left and right.

In game one at Concordia St. Paul I watched Class A teams Barnum and Goodhue play for the championship in the Pink Division. They both have been winning by 20+ in their games and came in to the game undefeated. Only Barnum Gold is undefeated now. (there is a Barnum Maroon too). Barnum Gold won 54-32. As a team BG hit for 7 threes plus made a couple of old fashioned 3s along the way. Both Barnum and Goodhue have strong chances to be playing in the Target Center come March.

In the second game it was off to Forest Lake to watch the championship game between Forest Lake Maroon and the Midtown Lady Monarchs. MLM is a multiple school team of 11s and12s. And it was the youngsters beating the hosts 46-42. Earlier in an exhibition FLM beat MLM 31-24. Today was a revenge game. MLM held a 31-17 half time lead before FLM staged a second half rally. FLM went on an 18-4 run to close to one, but MLM didn't falter down the stretch. Diamond Lane for FLM hit for 5 treys in the first half.

The third contest took me to Henry Sibley to see Hudson Blue vs the Suns, or so I thought. Hudson Blue forfeited and instead I saw the Suns take on Henry Sibley. Apparently Hudson wasn't able to play due to Wisconsin rules. However Amery was playing on the court next door. Another three point exhibition unfolded before my eyes. This time the gunner was Kayla Hulsebus of St. Croix Lutheran. She has yet to play varsity ball as she is a freshman, but she found gold at the end of the rainbow six times. The Suns beat the hosts 58-42. Not only did Hulsebus score her six, but the Suns struck for two more for a total of eight. HS also struck for 7 for a combined 15 total between the teams.

I will report on these game in Out & Abouts Monday (Barnum/Goodhue) Tuesday (Midtown/Forest Lake) and Wednesday (Suns/Henry Sibley)

Thanks for your patience tonight. I had another meeting after the Henry Sibley game.
