ROGERS BREAKDOWN TIP OFF
HOWARD LAKE-WAVERLY-WINSTED lakers 63,

PARKERS PRAIRIE panthers 41

As you can see I didn't get these games done at Rogers. They didn't have wireless connection, and I couldn't access their network for some reason. So things are coming all at once. And it will be partial. I will be doing numbers, and stories and a lot of backfilling including yesterday's Stillwater games. this game too.

HLWW had bigger, and quicker athletes in the opener of the 4th Breakdown Tip Off. Parkers Prairie held an 18-16 lead in the first half, their only lead of the game. HLWW scored on 4/5 possessions to take control of the game then. Amy Gatz drained a three to give HLWW the lead for good at 19-18. HLWW milked each possession and took the best shot available. They attacked inside. But it was primarily a battle between two players in the first half: HLWW Katie Pettit who had 14 and PP's Sari Noga who had 13. HLWW also used lefty Brittany Drew for 8 by half. It was HLWW 27-23 at half.

HLWW really blew the game open in the early part of the second half with a 7/8 scoring blitz and they kept it rolling with a 19-6 run. HLWW pounded it inside with 12 points coming from Angie Gatz and Drew in the run. Noga was seeing double teams and only scored because she got put backs of other PP player shots.

Only two players went to the line for PP. But then only two made free throws for HLWW. Neither team attacked the basket like the other games on the Rogers menu. The tempo and pace had a different feel than the rest of the contests. But HLWW understood where to be, what they needed to do and how to finish. They were the only AA team of three to pick up a win.
