YOUNG VERBALS
Jill Young, Mitchell Christian, has made a verbal to Creighton. She averaged 31 ppg on the SD state B championship team. Young was the girls basketball recruit player of the summer this year. Her summer team SD elite won the Miss Basketball showcase in Kearney Nebraska and also the MN Stars Shootout at Bloomington Jefferson. More in the Mitchell Daily Republic.

IDENTIFYING/DEVELOPING TALENT
I came across this book at one of the used book stores in Dinkytown at the University of Minnesota awhile ago. It is Principles of Sports Training by a team of writers edited by Dietrich Harre. This is the East German method of developing athletes back when it was a communist country. They used to win a lot of medals in the olympics.
What I thought was interesting was section 2.4 the Identification of Talent. You should be able to pick out talent and start grooming kids in the younger elementary ages according to this book. I think there is a lot of untapped talent out there that never gets involved because the parents don't know or don't care. That is why the gym teacher is critical in spotting the talent.
At Amazon it is unavailable right now and is no means a best seller coming in at #1,425,827.
