BECKER FALL LEAGUE
Elk River Red 28, St. Michael-Albertville 27

Elk River Red's Jaime Sutton made two free throws with 14 seconds left to cap a 7-0 comeback to beat StMA 28-27. StMA led 27-21 with less than 3 minutes to go.

The first half had hardly any possessions due to the multitude of fouls. Both teams only had 17 possessions. ERR led 8-2 early on Sutton had four of those points. STMA tied it with three scores in four possessions. STMA was running and converting late in the half. It looked as if they were crisper with their passes. But it was a low, low, low scoring half with STMA up 12-11.

ERR did lead at 15-14 early in the half on the strength of the free throw line. But then STMA scored on four straight possessions to go up 22-15. ERR was in the midst of a 1/8 scoring possession run. ERR did mount a run with three straight scoring possessions with Metcalfe scoring four points in the 5-2 run. STMA had a 27-21 lead with less than 3 minutes to go. Tempestt Wilson started the ERR comeback with a drive and foul. She made one to make the score 27-22. A turnover and lay up made it 27-24. STMA was not working the clock very well as they came down and attempted a 3. Sutton got the rebound and Britta Hall scored to make it a one point game. STMA's offense didn't produce their last six possessions. With 14 seconds to go Sutton was fouled and she converted both free throws for the final margin. STMA had two chances on their last possession, but neither found the bottom of the net.

Consistency, late game situations, and offensive execution are all part of the learning curve in the fall league. It can definitely help a team with a comeback win, giving them the confidence that they have the ability to do so in the future.
Still the pp100 and floor % were low.

Coaching Elk River Red was Rich Weiss, a former Osseo youth coach that who is currently living in Becker. He is a long time friend of new coach Reed Caouette.

In the game next to this, Mississippi 8 rivals Rogers beat Becker Blue in overtime with Casey Mann making the winning free throw with no time left 33-32. It was the second loss of the day for Becker Blue.

Next up: tomorrow morning
