MN FALL LEAGUE
RED DIVISION
Bloomington Kennedy 51, Burnsville 41

Kennedy grabbed an early lead, withstood a Burnsville rally, and then put distance between themselves in a 51-41 win over Burnsville. With the win Kennedy was alone in first place in the Red Division.

Kennedy scored on their first four possessions and were up 8-2. Steinbauer opened the Kennedy scoring with a 3 and added two free throws in the initial outburst. Kennedy pushed that lead to 18-5 as Brittany Zins and Steinbauer were a two person wrecking crew. Zins had 8, and Steinbauer 7 at this point. During the run Burnsville post Abby Rittenhouse had to leave the floor with an injury. She later returned. Burnsville was mired in a seven possession drought during the JFK run up. Kennedy's largest first half lead was 26-12 after Shaquila Boler's baseline drive basket. Kennedy maintained a healthy lead throughout the first half culminating in a Steinbauer 3 as the first half buzzer sounded. JFK was up 33-21 at half.

Burnsville started the second half with a 15-4 run to close the gap to 37-36. Rittenhouse got on track after being held scoreless in the first half with six points in the run. JFK had a five possession drought during the run. Burnsville had a chance to take the lead after holding Kennedy scoreless on the next possession, but a violation gave the ball back to Kennedy. Steinbauer made sure that there would be some distance between the two teams as she canned two free throws. Steinbauer was 13/13 on the day at the line. She would have been 14/14 but in the first half someone had a lane violation negating the shot. Steinbauer scored again and JFK led 41-36. Burnsville was stuck in a six possession drought at the wrong time, and four of the possessions ended in turnovers. Sheridan Reiner drilled a trey to make the score 44-36 and Steinbauer added another basket to stretch the lead back to a comfortable 10. It remained close to that the rest of the way as Kennedy knocked off the last undefeated Red team 51-41.

BY THE NUMBERS
Bloomington Kennedy 51, 54, 94.4, .444
Burnsville 41, 53, 77.4, .340
Burnsville's slow start didn't hold them back as they kept scrambling back. Lack of a true point guard hampered their offense. JFK was rudderless when Boler sat down. A physical game.
