your daily dose of girls basketball news & information

BIG 10 PRESEASON PICKS
Ohio State grabbed the top honors in the preseason selections by the Big 10. OSU's Jessica Davenport is the preseason player of the year. They also list the top 5 players.

Michigan State has been selected #3 in the preseason poll by both the media and coaches. From the Michigan State News.

Iowa is tapped for #5 in the preseason by both the coaches and media. Megan Skouby is picked to be all Big 10. From the Des Moines Register.
Krista Vande Venter, formerly from Osseo MN HS, sprained her ankle and may miss the season opener exhibition game against Northern State. Again from the DMR.

Wisconsin is selected by both coaches and media for 6th. Jolene Anderson makes the first team for returning players.

Illinois has the 7th spot. Jenna Smith, a MN Miss Basketball from Bloomington Kennedy had 13 points in a Blue/Orange Scrimmage.

The Minnesota Gophers have been selected 8th in the Big 10 this season by coaches and 9th by media. Also the conference schedule looks to go up to a full round robin. Here is the StarTribune and St. Paul Pioneer Press.

EARLY SEASON WINS
SD Mines won their first game Sunday 71-62 over Great Falls. From the Rapid City Journal.

MI HS POLLS
The Detroit Free Press has their All Class top 10 poll and then for each class. I think Detroit Country Day may be too low. Their two losses came when Erica Soloman was out with an injury.

BECKER FALL LEAGUE
Champlin Park continued their winning ways with two 20 point victories yesterday over Stillwater Black and Albany.

OPEN GYM ALERT
Penn State will be at the Minneapolis South open gym today.
-notice- PSU will NOT be there today.

FINISH LINE IN SITE
My second publication is (thank goodness) almost done. The player ratings for three more states should be done by late tonight or early tomorrow and then it is off to the printers.
The numbers don't lie.
Thanks for all the patience.
