HIEBERT VERBALS
Jackie Hiebert, Hopkins has made a verbal to Ohio University. The 6-1, F/C averaged 10.5 ppg last year for the AAAA State champs. She played with MN Metro Stars White this summer. She is the 19th MN 2007 player to make a verbal, and the 11th headed to a D1 program.

BECKER FALL LEAGUE
Champlin Park won twice on Sunday with wins over St. Michael-Albertville and Rogers. The Rogers game went into overtime and Jenny Theisen hit the game winner, a 3 pointer, with 15 seconds to go in OT for the 40-37 win.

MAYVILLE OPENS COLLEGE SEASON
Mayville State opened their season on Saturday with a dominating 113-41 win over Brandon University. Laura Big Crow, Pine Ridge HS, and Williston State CC led the way with 25 points. Nikki Munneke, formerly of Centennial added 19.

FALL SCRIMMAGE
Hopkins will hold a 13 team scrimmage on Nov. 18th, the first Saturday of the winter season. The teams involved are a who's who of basketball powers in MN: Hopkins, Kennedy, Roseville, Breck, Osseo, Eastview, Mpls. South, Mpls. Roosevelt, Rockford, DeLaSalle, Armstrong, Eagan, Little Falls. Hopkins has won two of the last three AAAA tournaments, Kennedy won the other. Five of the teams were in the state tournament last year. More information at the Hopkins site.

OPENING TOURNAMENT
The Hamline tournament, held after Thanksgiving has their brackets set. The second game is a doozy---Hopkins vs St. Paul Central at 8 pm on Friday, Nov 24. Centennial faces Mpls North in the early game at 6.

The Holiday Tournament season should be crowded, but time should be set aside for Dick's Sporting Goods Holiday Classic at Hopkins. The field had a record 170-57 last year, a .749 winning %. The big match up will be defending AAA champs Benilde-St. Margaret's vs defending AAAA Champ Hopkins.

COACHING CRISIS
The Marshalltown Times Republican has an article on the dropping age of coaches in Iowa. The money, time, and turnover rate are all highlighted as reason this trend is happening.

MICHIGAN RESULTS
Cheboygan beat Escanaba on Saturday in strong fashion 61-32. Cheboygan's record is 14-1. From the Cheboygan Daily Tribune.

Sandusky, undefeated, has two battles ahead this weekend against Marlette and Harbor Beach. More in the Port Huron Times Herald.

MICHIGAN POLLS
The Detroit Free Press has their rankings thanks to Mike McCabe. Auburn Hills Avondale rules the roost.

INJURY REPORTS
Tori Runner, Drake has a stress fracture and will be out four weeks. From the Des Moines Register.

Nicole VanderPol, Iowa (Grundy Center) is not injured, but their is a story on her battle with Type 1 diabetes. From the Iowa City Press-Citizen.

WEDDING BELLS
Andy Meinhardt, Burnsville girls basketball coach and director of the Minnesota Metro Stars AAU Basketball Club, got engaged over the MEA weekend to Teresa Backes. A fall 2007 wedding is planned.
