MN FALL LEAGUE
RED DIVISION
Cannon Falls 46, Owatonna 43

Cannon Falls, the 2006 State AA champions built a big lead, and then hung on to dear life in a 46-43 win over larger Owatonna.

CF jumped up 8-0 on the strength of two 3s to start the game. Korie Jackson, which is expected as that is her spot in the corner, and Alex Montgomery, which may have been a surprise from a big player. Then it was Owatonna's turn to rack up 8 points. They too did it with two 3s. Lauren Barber knocked down the second one to tie it. The game was tied at 10. CF was 1/11 in their possessions during this stretch. But they put it together to close out the half as they were 8/12 to finish up 28-16. Unheralded #12 delivered six of the points including the final four.

Owatonna cut the lead to 33-29 as they went on a 13-5 run to start the half. #3, a post player had nine points in the outburst. CF was very deliberate on offense at this point and scored the next 10 points with 5/6 scoring possessions including the first four in a row. Montgomery scored the last 8 points, two in transition. CF led 46-33 late in the half and Owatonna refused to quit. CF picked the wrong time to go into a drought ending with 9 straight non scoring possessions. Owatonna's comeback attempt started with a 3 from #34. In their last three possessions Owatonna scored each time, again the last time by #34. That basket made it 46-43. On CF's last time with the ball Owatonna was a fouling machine trying to get them to the line. Montgomery was fouled three straight times and went to the line for a one & one. She missed, but got her own rebound as time ran out. CF escaped with a 46-43 win.

If you have the names of the players with #s let me know & I will change the information.
