College Basketball in Canada, Wiese Moves to MetroStars

The 10th Annual Knights Basketball Coaching Academy will be held at Bloomfield Hills Lahser in Michigan on Saturday, September 13. Speakers will include Grosse Pointe North's girls basketball coach Gary Bennett, Oakland University's men's coach Greg Kampe, and U Detroit's men's coach Ray McCallum. From Hometown Life.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT IN CANADA
Even though it is August, Baylor and LSU are involved in an international tournament in Vancouver. Baylor beat Simon Fraser 86-67. LSU beat British Columbia 74-46. Earlier LSU beat Trinity Western 81-27. From the Province.

COACHING NEWS
Ellen B. Wiese (Ebwiese@aol.com) has been added to the coaching staff of the Minnesota Metro Stars where she will serve as head coach of the 15U team in 2009. This will be Coach Wiese's first season with the Metro Stars. She started coaching AAU teams in 2001, the last two years of which she took her teams to AAU Nationals in Salem, VA, in 2007, and Kings Island, Ohio this past summer. Last season's team finished second in the 15U division at the Minnesota AAU State Championship. Coach Wiese is also the Junior Varsity head coach at Maple Grove High School, coming off a very successful winning season. Coach Wiese is a former college basketball player who brings a great love for the game and a passion to inspire confidence in the girls. She is an attorney with her own law practice.
