Game from Saturday, March 31
ALL CITY BALLERS AAU TOURNAMENT
at Robbinsdale MS

MSB 49, SHOX 29
This matched two 15 year old squads and it was MSB (MN School of Basketball) with their size and experience knocking off the Shox, a team that has some Waseca ties.

Darcy Rice scored off the opening tip for MSB, but Hayford answered right back with a 3 for the Shox. Hayford had three 3s in the first half. Jennie Kalbfell scored her first points on a three from the right wing to push the lead out to 7-3. The Shox were able to tie it at 7 with a rebound basket by Campbell. After that point MSB scored on 5/6 possessions and pushed the lead out to 17-9. Kalbfell added five points during the 10-2 run, three on an old fashioned three point play. Hayford added a trey for the Shox to cut the lead to 19-12. She had eight of the 12 Shox points to start the game. But then the Shox shut down for 8 possessions. MSB didn't really take advantage of the drought with only four point added to their total. In fact MSB closed out the half with a 1/12 offensive sequence with a Rice 3 the only points. The Shox actually outscored MSB 8-3 to close the half 28-21.

The second half started off on a slow note with only MSB's Gabrielle Schroeder scoring a free throw for one point in the first 13 possessions combined for both teams. MSB did have a five possession string to go on an 11-2 run. Six of the points came after a miss by the Shox and then a sprint down court for a transition lay up by MSB. Kalbfell had her own three possession string later in the half with a post up, a high low, and a transition lay up for six straight points and a 48-26 lead. For the last five minutes MSB only squeezed one more point out of the nets. The Shox did get three more but the game was decided. The Shox was 2/13 in their last possessions, while MSB was only 1/11.
