MN STARS SMITH 47, NORTH ST. PAUL 20

Another All Star team took on a school team with results that didn't surprise anyone. The transition game was working for MSS with 14 points in the first half out of 28 on fast breaks. Abby Weiss started it off with a steal and lay up for MSS's first possession. NSP had an 8 possession drought in the middle of the half with five of those possessions ending up as turnovers. MSS had an offensive string of six late in the half on an 11-3 run. Whitney Langen scored the first four points of that sequence with a steal & lay up and then a post up. MSS led 28-10 at half.

The second half slowed down somewhat with MSS outscoring NSP 19-10. NSP started off with a 12 possession drought with 9 ending in turnovers. But MSS didn't squeeze the advantage of the gifts only adding 9 to their totals. MSS led 37-10 at this stage. NSP did have a spurt where they scored on 4/5 possessions and outscored MSS 10-6. Hailey Barnes scored 8 straight points in the run with two 3s in the mix. But with all that flury NSP was only able to cut the margin to 43-20. After that it was 7 straight possessions with nothing to show for it for NSP. MSS didn't have a strong finish either with 2/7 possessions ending up at the bottom of the net. Alycia Dahl did finish the scoring with the last four points for MSS.
