Deep South Tragedy, Windy City Report

MINNESOTA REPORTS
TRAGEDY IN NORTH CAROLINA
This isn't a MN story, but since some MN teams are involved in the Deep South Classic I am running the story here. Carly Stowell, a guard from Kentlake, Washington, collapsed at the team hotel and died. More from the Seattle Times.

In Deep South Classic Action
MN Stars Hested in the 17 Sponsored B bracket beat the Roanoke Stars 65-55 in the quarters and lost to FBC Blue 58-41 in the semis.
NC Heat won both games yesterday in the 16 Sponsored A bracket and will play in the finals today against Ohio Hardwood Heat. They knocked off Houston Elite 48-40 in the quarters and then beat Ohio Legends 56-44 in the semis.
In the 16 Select B bracket MN Stars Borowicz lost in the quarters to the South Florida Lady Jaguars 45-44.
In the 16 Open B bracket MN Stars Smith lost in the quarters to the MI Lady Volunteers 41-39.

WINDY CITY CLASSIC
Midtown Lady Monarchs 13s beat IL Xcitement 14s 60-57. They finished 2nd in IL last year and were 2-4 at 13-I nationals. MLM also beat WI Madison Spartans 14s 59-20. No word on the game against IA Attack 14s.
Teams are seeded in groups of 4 for tomorrow's brackets by record and point differential (up to +20) per game.

ALL STAR GAME
The North Central All Star Game took place yesterday at Bemidji State. The Maroon I beat Blue I 42-33 and Blue II beat Maroon II 40-35. Maroon I's Chelsi Nelson of Kittson County Central was MVP of game one. Caitlin Dunn of Alexandria had 13 for Blue II to lead all scoring efforts yesterday. She was also MVP of the second game.
