MYAS Coon Rapids Tournament Pool Play
CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI 39, WRENSHALL 31

Cambridge-Isanti trailed at half 20-17 then turned it around in the third quarter with a 10-2 run.

Early on it was Class A school Wrenshall coming out of the gates by scoring on three of their first four possessions 7-2. Samantha Anderson strarted off with a three and twin sister Danielle added two more on the next possession off a pass from Samantha. CI battled back with a Kailee McDonald trey and a Marie Hanson score on an out of bounds play to tie the game up at 7. CI closed the first quarter with a nine possession drought with seven ending in missed shots. Wrenshall led after one 11-7.

Wrenshall pushed the lead out to 15-7 at the start of the second quarter with four points from Andrea Gould. CI continued its drought with three more possessions before connecting on three straight with Jordan Vavra hitting a three from the top of the key and then a pull up jumper on the next possession. A Hanson lay up after a missed Wrenshall shot made the score 15-14. But then CI went back into hibernation with seven straight possessions. Wrenshall only managed to add five points to their total. On CI's final possession of the half Hanson hit a three from the left wing as time expired to make it 20-17 Wrenshall.

That 3 effect carried over into the start of the second half as CI scored on their first three possessions with Hanson connecting on the first four points. CI started off with a 10-2 run. Wrenshall's offense started off 1/9 as the half court game ground down their options. CI led by as many as five, but Andrea Gould scored in the paint to cut the margin to 29-28. Kailee McDonald scored on a put back to give CI a 31-28 margin heading into the final frame.

Wrenshall had one last gasp and it came early in the fourth quarter as Gould scored on the first two possessions and tied the game at 13. But that was the end of the scoring for them as they had an eight possession drought to finish the game. Gould only had two possessions after the tie, Samantha Anderson did not have one. Hanson broke the tie on a drive and CI never trailed after that.
