This game took place April 14, 2007
MYAS Coon Rapids Tournament
COMETS 54, ELK RIVER 35

This game was rapid paced and physical, but it was the Comets streaking by Elk River 54-35.

Both teams had a rough start with ER going 0/6 and the Comets 2/7. Neither team held on to the ball to long as the first good shot that presented itself was taken. Put it was ER that had the harder time scoring with only two field goals in the quarter and their last one came at the horn. The Comets led 12-5 at the end of the first.

ER outscored the Comets 11-10 in the second quarter. For the Comets Emily Thesing had three transition lay ups in the quarter. The Comets did build up a 20-10 lead. Then ER had four straight scoring possessions late in the quarter, but only managed 5 points as they missed chances at the line. The Comets led at the half 22-16.

ER closed the gap to 22-20 early in the third on a lay up by Jenna Burkley and a bucket by Paige Greene. Kristin Sczublewski answered on the next possession with a drive and one. That started a 14-0 run. Eryn Sorenson had a hand in five points in the outburst as did Sczublewski. The Comets were 9/12 in the heart of the quarter. When they were done with their flurry they were up 44-28. ER had a critical seven possession drought at the start of the Comet run, six of which were turnovers, 8 of which were points.

The fourth quarter held no surprises and the Comets finished off the night 54-35.
