your daily dose of girls basketball news & information

I have signed up for gabcast and I still haven't figured out on how to get the audio I blogged up on the site. I will have to go under the hood to figure it out. Since I thought it would upload automatically (it didn't) you need to go to the gabcast site.

anyway....

Today I opened at the Lakeville South AAU Junior DI tournament. It was Southern MN Magic overcoming a slow start to beat Swish 47-41. The Swish's Andrea Hagberg of St. Cloud Apollo led all scorers with 20. I will give full details later.

After LS I headed further south to Rochester for the All Star Series.

In the first contest it was AAA topping A 90-61. The game marked the return of Kachine Alexander from her foot injury. She 7 of the first 11 points for AAA. AAA's Macie Michelson of Marshall led all scorers with 20. AAA had great balance with 7 players with 9 or more points.

The AAAA hit the century mark, but it was touch and go. Angel Robinson scored four points in the last 30 seconds to put them over the 100 mark in their 101-89 win over AA. AAAA led 56-36 at halftime. In the second half AAAA stretched that lead to 75-45 with 14 minutes to go. The century mark looked like it was to fall for sure as AAAA led 91-70. But baskets came harder for the big schoolers. In fact AA cut the margin to 97-89 with 40 seconds left. Both Tara Steinbauer of Kennedy and Lauren Young of Edina had 16 to lead AAAA. But the top scorer happened to be Amy Stifter of Watertown-Mayer for the AA squad. She made 9/9 at theline. You can see both the All Star games stats on wayzataresults.com.

AAAA and AAA will face each other in the championship tomorrow at St. Thomas in St. Paul at 2 pm.

This is how I plan on delivering the usual information.
Monday: Southern MN Magic vs Swish
Tuesday: AAA vs A and AAAA vs AA
Wednesday: 3rd place and championships.

Next up: tomorrow morning
