SEMIFINALS
IBCA SELECT I 73, IOWA LADY GATORS 44
IBCA Select raced to a 27-11 first quarter lead and cruised to a 73-44 victory over the Iowa Lady Gators. Kelly Krei, an early verbal to Iowa, led the way with 19 points.
IBCA scored on 6 of their first 8 possessions, and four of them were 3 point plays (3 behind the arc, one old fashioned variety). MacKenzie Wescott scored the first five points, the first two off a second shot, the next three on the "and one." Then Hannah Noel, Chelsea Trask and Kaitlin Oney drilled 3s. So after four minutes IBCA led 16-4. IBCA also had an 11-0 run later in the quarter. ILG were mired in a seven possession drought with four turnovers due to the IBCA pressure in the half court. IBCA led 27-11 after one.
For the rest of the game IBCA kept slowly adding to the lead. They had one sequence in the second quarter where they went on a 4/5 scoring sequence. Kelly Krei had four points in that 8-2 run. IBCA led 42-23 at half.
The comeback chances were slim and IBCA squashed them quickly at the start of the third quarter with a 5/6 scoring sequence on a 10-2 run. Kaisha Brown and Indy Uhlenhopp each had 5 points in the outburst. IBCA did have a extreme dry spell later in the quarter however with 2/13 sequence including a drought of six. But ILG couldn't seize any advantage as both teams finished off the quarter 4-4.
IBCA got their mojo back in the early fourth quarter going 5/6 with their scoring sequence. ILG had their best sequence, a three possession scoring sequence, in this quarter. In the end it was IBCA 73-44.
